Wool's Orphanage is the place where Tom Riddle was raised as a child. He, of course, later became Lord Voldemort. My impression of the place was that it was very institutional, cold, and impersonal ... a place where children would not be loved.

Just lonely old me again although I've surprised myself that I'd gone 12 days without seeing Casey-san's messages here.

I'm thinking of some things my dad told me about his past today. It was interesting, and I think I understand him better now.

I'm also thinking of the fact that it's been more than four months since anyone else logged in. :[

Hiya Casey-san! I'm glad to see that someone else still looks in here from time to time. ^_^ I still come around too, but it's kinda hard to find anything to say anymore ... or maybe I just haven't tried hard enough ... v_v

It sounds like you had an interesting conversation with your dad, and it seems that maybe you've reached the final stage of growing up - when the parent/child relationship dissolves into something more like a sibling relationship. It's a really good place to be so I'm happy that you are getting there. *hugs* ^_^

Recently, only the spambots have been coming to visit me and leaving their droppings behind. It's not too bad to clean up these days but I did have to ban some of their IP's a few weeks back.

I still visit, the only way you can get rid of me is if you ban me or take the forums down. :P I do find the complete lack of new members over the past few years strange, though... Magic Knight Rayearth might be something of a niche series or a cult classic, but it's still a classic just the same, and this is one of the few places (Virtually the only place) on the internet devoted to it. You would think that new members would drop in every once in a while rather than the forums being a complete wasteland. I wonder if the forums would gain in activity if I submitted the URL to various search engines? I had a very hard time finding these forums via Google (I'm at school right now), so that might be part of the problem. It would be pretty nice to get a second generation of MKR posters, a crowd that hopefully isn't a bunch of flaky high school kids that completely forget the forums exist after a year or two. (Sorry, I've always been annoyed about how all the other regulars just suddenly disappeared despite supposedly being such good friends with each other.)

One thing that I've really found out about the internet is that it is very transitory. People come and go very easily which makes it difficult to build strong and long lasting relationships with others. It's kind of sad in a way because most of the people I run into are very nice and would like to keep them for friends. But over the years I've actually met only two friends from the internet in person and they both live so far away that any regular get-togethers would be rather impractical. v_v It does feel good to see you stop by again and remind me of the good times that we had here in the past. *hugs*

A few years ago there were a lot of problems with spambots infesting the forum, so the site admin made this place unsearchable as you seem to have noticed. It does help keep the bots out, but the other edge of the sword is that it makes it difficult for legitimately interested fans to find the forum as well. I can try to reopen the forums to the spiders and see if the bots come and bury me again. If not I can leave it that way and see if any new people are out there looking for more MKR fans. I've also thought about upgrading the forum to a more recent version or converting to a different format that is more immune to spammers. However, I'm not really sure if I want to get involved with that kind of work and it would cost money to get the latest version of IPB.
