It bugs me too, but the larger image was 150 by 131, I think, then I resized it to 100 by 87...

Well, you could have just cropped it so it was the right proportionment, that's what I do~

...capital "chi" does. A lowercase "chi" looks like χ...a little more elongated towards the bottom. ^^;

Try using the retangular marquee tool, then going to the 'style' option in the top bar, and select fixed aspect ratio. Then put in "1 to 1."
