But that's another topic, so let's not steer this off the track. Unfortunately the animals get caught in the middle of the whole thing and have no choice in what happens to them. Like you said above MR, prevention seems like the only solution. The place we got our kitties from (Humane Society) automatically fixes all the animals that they acquire. So the sterilization is provided free of charge to people wanting to adopt pets. This should be mandatory for all sources of pets (pets stores breeders, etc) so that no one can acquire animals capable of reproduction. Exceptions would be for those that have licenses to breed, and maybe such people should be required to register animal births the way human births are. That might be going a little too far, but ... well you've seen the results of not doing such things. v_v
