A little while ago I was discussing with another player in an mmo game why there wasn't any armor pieces in the whole game that vaguely resembled a skirt. There are long cloth robes for caster classes, but for heavy armor wearers you either got leggings or (eeek!) your bare behind showing! (preverted game developers! >_<) From the dawn of recorded history up until the advent of the gun, skirts were the armor of choice for the nether regions of soldiers which were of course men. Women weren't allowed to serve in the military until quite recently in history. So yes, we do apply modern social norms in places where they should not apply, lol

Well, I wouldn't know all the stuff that Batou-chi knows *is still trying to read it all*, but when it comes to The magic knights' armor, I always assumed they were magical and therefore didn't need to actually look accurate. Of course, it never showed any magical powers unless it evolved, so I don't know...
