I'd say the manga shows more of that bonding for me, personally. I first read your post before I read the manga, and I was like,"oh, really?" Maybe it's cause of the whole 'Presea dying and good ol' Sierra taking her place' thing, but I don't know, I should re-watch the anime yet again.
But I do agree with the fact that they have a mother-daughter sort of relationship. For me, I think Hikaru can go two ways with her personality when she grows up. One way would be to have a personality close to Presea's, and the other would be to have a more gentle, quiet nature, a good motherly character that gently chides her children on(but I guess Presea has some of that too, a human's personality is really complicated). I guess we'll never know in the end, unless CLAMP comes up with some sort of epilogue after a decade of finishing the series. ^^' -------------------- When Life gives you lemons, just burn them away!
