The Jazz bar
« on: September 26, 2005, 11:18:54 PM »
There really seems to be a lack of sanity in the main discution so here it is, presenting the JAzz ba! A nice and relaxed place where you can talk about anything.  There is only one rule here in the Jazz bar... Keep it sane.  No insane antics in here please, thanks. :)

Heh, yep, I've noticed that too, but I'm as guilty as everyone else round here... Heh ^_^;; But I can be serious sometimes... Hey, sometimes I want to be serious... =P

And on another note, The Smoking Room? Ugh... I really do detest smoking, I have to put up with bunches of high school students thinking it's "cool" to smoke everyday, and ugh, they smell. In both senses of the word. =P I don't want to be getting tar-filled lungs or a nicotine addiction from cigarettes or people blowing second-hand smoke in my face. Ugh. It's a waste of money (most of it goes to the government, that's why they aren't exactly being forceful on preventing smoking...), and it's an early death. I've never tried it, and never will! *boogie* ^_^

Well, I guess that's something to start talking about? =P Even though it was a little ranty... XD

I can remember smoking in high school, but I only did it because everyone thought that it was cool and didn't really do anything for me. If someone were to give me a cigarette now and I smoked it, I'd get a real quick nicotine buzz followed by a nasty headache about an hour later. A lot of my in-laws smoke and their houses just smell like ashtrays (and they do too when they come to visit me. :P). After I come home from visiting them, my clothes and hair smell like the evil cigarette smoke until I take a bath and change. Here in America they cost about $5 a pack (when I was in high school a carton was $5) so the cost adds up rather quickly. Two packs a day would equal a monthly car payment, so which would you rather have?

Oh my goodness! What would we do without our friends?

I think that question answers itself. I am completely anti-smoking and haven't even tried a cigarette. It's not worth the risk. The worst thing is you have to put up with a lot of other people smoking around you and you can't do much about it. I'm too much of a coward to say anything and even if i did it might result in violence.

I have to cope with my Dads smoking but after yesterday hes really trying to start smoking when im not in the room or in another room. I hate smoking, always have done you;ll enevr get me started or make me take a drag, never.
But the subject itself is one that annoys me espically when you and a friend promise to never smoke and you find out they havent been keeping that promise, it might be a small thing but it does hurt when a promise was made. Bleh...

hmmm I hafta say I'm a little guilty on this topic. yes I have smoked, for quite a while, but that was 2 years ago! so no grudges against me!!   ;)

I not totally against smoking because I believe people have the right to do whatever they want with their lives and body, but perhaps they shouldnt be allowed to smoke near non-smokers as it also harms them...

I dunno, have a debate with Tony Blair about it  :-\
Life itself is a cruel, pointless, and disgusting joke with no point but itself........

Hehe, thank you, I was hoping you'd get the hints =P

The Jazz Bar sounds like a way more friendly place anyways... Plus, it's Jazz! XD

People seem to think that I'm one of those rocker people who's really closed-minded and just listens to heavy-metal 24/7, automatically detesting anything else... (well, my History teacher implied this, I found it sort of insulting...) Do I really give off that impression? T_T Because I don't want to give that impression. I'm an open-minded person, musically and in general, I think. ^_^

People often judge only on appearances which is natural because a lot of the time it's the only information that we have about another person. To learn more we have to talk and communicate with them. I'm not sure if your teachers talk to you and take any personal interest in you guys (I know that mine didn't). So they should refrain from making any judgements by characterizing you as a "rocker" or an "emo" until they get to know you better.

Erm, we can't smoke in here any more?

Oh my goodness! What would we do without our friends?

Hmm, well, she wasn't mean about it, but she implied she thought like that... Ah well. I've been called a stereotype before, actually... >_<

And you probably can smoke in here, but nowhere near me. Ick. =P

*shiver*Hmm, it's been pretty cold here. And wet, raining, *again*... That plus a school blouse really do not mix. >_< Those sorts of blouses are white, and pretty seethrough anyway... but in the rain? Aarrggh... >_<

I'll admit, I have had a ciggarrette on occassion, but all it's ever done is privide me with anti-smoking fuel - it's pointless, it does nothing, all it will do is make you a big heap of smoky smoke. And damn, if you get addicted - it's costly. In the end it's up to you, but if you *do* smoke then at least keep it more private.

Rosi's been getting into smoking recently, just so she can say things like "DAMN! I want a smoke! *looks around to see who's paying attention*". She expects me to not approve, but to be honest I don't give a damn. If she wants to appear "cool" then that's her ego-problem not mine.

Something that both amuses and upsets me is when I see people hanging around in large groups, Rosi used to be one of these and Tonia too, who pose with ciggies but then inhale the smoke and hold it in their mouths before breathing it straight out again. Come on guys, do it *properly*, breathe the tar into your LUNGS. That is aftr all the correct and most cool thing to do. Gets you feeling smoky real deep down ya know.

/rant

Because a couple of people in our group dress especially rock/goth we can get labelled as Satan-worshippers so I think it suprises people when we turn out to be just normal ^_^; Music-wise I'm pretty much an open book, I'll listen to pretty much anything aside from Rap and the more generic kind of pop. But Jazz, Blues, Classical, Rock, Metal, Punk, Bob Dylan-style Folk - bring it on!

That sounds a lot like the same stuff that got me to smoke too, I just wanted other people to think that I was cool. Smoking is actually really uncool if you think about it - sucking poisonous carcinogens into your body is not cool. Somewheres I read that every cigarette a person smokes chops 7 minutes off of the length of your lifespan.

Oh my goodness! What would we do without our friends?
