here are a few rules that i have thought of.. please add if you think of anymore.. ^_^
* no god playing
* if you are speaking please use " " marks
* in non semi literate RPGS an action should be inbetween * * marks.
* in semi literate RPGS the story should be written as though a story with no * * marks
* please put a character profile before posting...
* if a non RPG comment needs to made please use either OCC: or (( )) marks
* no saying whether a weapon 'hits' someone else
* no perfect players... the weakness's must be obvious to others at times please..
* no players that change more than once.. your character is your character profile.. NOBODY ELSE (except minor extra characters)
* you must stick to the storyline as best as possible
please feel free to add to this ^__^

* If someone is having a big "scene" with someone else but hasn't posted. DONT post. That person is just left behind and the rp makes no sense.

* PLEASE check the spelling of your posts before posting and correct anything that may not be readable. There is a spell check function on the forum, use it - no excuses ^_^
It's irritating when the flow of a good roleplay is broken up by having to work out what everything means, or the brain-jerk when the wrong word is there or something (Amy's typo in this post was a good example of this actually ^_^)
And thank you Amy for saying that either you use stars in your RPG or you don't, not a mish-mash of the two v_v

I have heard from many members who have been taking part in a RPG or numerous ones that the post counts are mounting and they are losing the plot.
Due to this I will limit all members to no more than 2 posts per member per RPG per day. (basically dont post more than twice on any rpg ^_~)
This means that people wont get lost in the stories and have to kill if their characters.
If you are absent for any reason and you know already please give your character something to do that will occupy them for how ever long and other members must be respectful of that.
Any absences that last longer than a week may cause the RPG’s to close down temporarily.
Sorry for any convenience and please continue having fun RPG-ing ^_^

It seems like a good idea to me Amy-chan. I think that I've lost track of all of the RPG threads and so I haven't been involved with any of them in soo long. I'm really sorry about that everyone. There is a lot for me to read in order to get caught up, but I'll try. BTW, can I join in with any of them?

I'm just wanting to say this before I go off an a full blown rant. I have noticed that a lot of new RPG are cropping up and the older ones that have been started are left unfinished. This is a minor irritation because if one person has posted and is now waiting for someone to reply then all they can do is wait, (the mountain RPG is an example). Also I've noticed on many RPG's that everything seems to wander way off course (1st annual quest). I think the one thing that really bugs me has to be when two people decide to kill a character off so early, now this would be fine if we had about 20 people here who posted daily and were big RPG fans that could RP properly not when we only have 5 people and we aren't even into the story yet. I have nothing against the death of characters just not with so few people and not the only hero in the story (Star Wars RPG). Also I would like to suggest that we try some basic RPG that have a fixed structure in the future, I'm all for freedom of the story but it needs to stay on track, so I advice the following types:
Crime: A crime is committed and people have to find out who committed it. I believe Neil (I think) has already done this. Kudos.
Fantasy: Story can feature magic and mythology and can be fully free or structured.
Adventure: Sometimes confused with Fantasy but this usually doesn't contain magic.
Horror: Can be linked with crime but with a much darker feel.
Romance: Love story that can link everyone of certain characters.
Casual: A story of everyday life, most likely based in school and at home.
Anime: Based on an anime.
These are just suggestion and all can be inter-twined but all but Fantasy and Casual are structured so straying from the main plot isn't good but making sub-plots is fine. The only reason I bring this up is because of all the time I spend on my other RPG's to come here and see all the dead ones kinda bugs me. If anyone anything to add please do. Criticise any ones choices and you post will be deleted.

I can see what you mean. The mountain RP has almost died... i would reply but i could do with someone else to help re set the story off if people dont mind me asking. It seems that my character is doing everything and everyone else seems to be following so i can see what you mean there.
Some of the older older Rps i just dont know what happened. The kingdom Rp for example i was waiting for neil to reply and in the end gave up cos i was waiting for a few months.
I can see what you mean. Maybe at the start of each new RP the type of Rp should be reconiguised so fellow Rpers can see whats type of story this will be, maybe this will help with characters and character development? Just a suggestion there.
But yes i do agree with you Robin adn im sorry to everyone if this has anything at all to do with myself.

Erm, I know that I'm just as guilty as everyone else. It's not often that I get truly stuck and can't figure out a creative way to keep the thread going along. A lot of the time it's just the opposite and I wind up posting too much stuff and lose track of where the story is actually supposed to be going. I totally agree with you on trying to add more structure to the games. That's what I had in mind when I proposed the organized rpg idea, but I found all of the details to be really overwhelming. Just keeping track of everyone's character statistics and experience alone would be quite an accounting job, so I don't know if it's a good idea to take it quite that far.
Lately things have been getting slow in general here at the forum which doesn't help. Maybe we could consider ways of bringing more members here?

yeah organised Rps can take a really long time to organiase and i dont think anyone here really has the time to organise something with everything else in their lives. I would help but with next year being our (our being many of us here ^_^;;) GCSE year I need to start planning how im going to study and fit everything else in and i dont think anybody else has the time these days.
As for new members that would be a good idea espically if they were a good Rper who could post on a regular basis.. it just seems to be the same people and the characters can become slightly boring if they are similar.

I have to agree with Amy. Organised RPs would not only take a while to sort out, but it can be a stressful ordeal. With the majority of the guys here going into their last year at school it would be better to avoid, for the time being at least especially as they have to start sending off college applications pretty soon too.
I could try to set some up, but I, myself am still pretty busy. I have my last college interveiw soon and I have rehearsals for a show soon, although my life is reletively stress free for the next 2 weeks or so...

I am guilty of this... but so are you.
The only reasons that I have left rps are if they have died, people are ignoring me or if I've killed off my character. We do need to try harder to keep them alive. I havent been able to post in most of the rps recently because people havent been replying. So i probably wont need you to close them when i go on holiday at the end of this week.
People just can't get on as much as before...

my one is dead. no one replied so i can't do anything coz i posted last. i guess i have a habit of leaving RP's but they just get so far aheead that i lose track since i can't come on at home and such.

A quick question actually, I'll edit this post afterwards if/when it gets answered. What's the deal with swearing in the RPs? Obviously if it's excessively OOC then it's not appropriate, but how about if we have a character (or OC) who's naturally coarse in how they speak? I was just wondering if there's a limit at all.

I would allow it. many places put up no swearing because of young kids but we are all at a sensible age and as long as it is in context and not just swearing for the hell of it then thats fine. Well thats how i feel.

Hmm... depends in case there are younger audiences veiwing the forum.. i guess it would have to be decied in the person who creates the Rps extra rules.. *shrugs*

Its happening *again*.
RP's are dying and its bugging me this time. It seems that recently alot of anime based Rp's have started up which are fun but even they are dying.
If you dont post in more than a week then I think PM's are gonna have to be sent out to people remiding them.
it isnt fair on those who check the Rp boards everytime they log in wanting some sort of reply >.<

We always seem to be getting new ones, so maybe it's okay to retire the others that become inactive. After all one person can't really play all of them. However at the other extreme an rpg with only one person playing doesn't work either - it becomes a fanfic. So it might be a good idea to limit how many rpg threads each one of us plays in. That way we wouldn't get overwhelmed with too much writing and also keep our ideas a little more focused.

I'd say limit the amount of RP's on the board rather than how many each person plays, effectivly thats their own desicion on what to play and what not.
I really think members who do RP should play more attention to the RP's.
But ultimatly its up to you what to do MJ, you do own this place after all ^.^;

us people in HH are always maoning about RP's dying and such....but i am moaning about how we need new RP's some on here are so boring and such...yeah well...that's my view....yeah...oh and a lot are dying....

I'm trying to keep this place in somekind of order but by all means make new RPG, but one will have to be archived as we have a limit at the moment of 10 at anyone time (this may be reduced too). IF you want an old one reactivated then please look in my log (at the top of the RPG sub-forum) and PM whichever one you want re-opened (again one will need to be archived).

I'd like some new rps. Some with more original stories or maybe a new BR one thats actually organised better.

I'd like to get more involved in the RPG forum, but the only comment I have at the moment is the number of pinned topics we have in this forum. Surely some of the nags and rants could be combined as they give out similar messages?

Anyways, as for a new RP im on the way of making one, since i dont tend to make any.. so watch this space..
