Faye
Hiya! Name's Faye and I'm here to say hi to everyone. Hope to have fun here and make some friends in the process. Not too much to know about me. I'm a soon to be 20-year-old female who loves anime, manga, music, art, writing, and cooking. Wanna know anything else? Feel free to ask. ^-^
Faye
Well, I'm taking the semester off next fall, working full-time as a billing receptionist. I've been in college for 2 years now and really don't know what I want. That and the Stafford Loans are no longer available. So I'll be paying off what I owe right now and continuing my education part-time. I am looking into business right now and hoping that it will be my calling.

Well, my forte is baking, though I can make a mean roast. I'll let you in on some of my cookie secrets. First rule, make sure you set aside a specific time slot for your baking. It's easy to become distracted and forget what was added where and how much. If you're going to be baking, that should be the only thing you're doing. Scratch is the best way to go. Don't use cheap flour, the consistency messes with the formula, leaving lumps. When following any recipe, you don't need to be precise. Every ingredient adds a different taste. Sometimes, you may want to add more vanilla, or tone down on the chocolate chips. Trial and error is one of the best ways to work this through. This is how people make recipes their own. And don't be afraid to try the dough. Use all your senses when deciding if a recipe works out. Mix by hand (either with a large spoon metal or wooden, or with your actual hands (if you use your hands, be prepared for quite the mess. I use a spoon myself.)). It's not only a sure way to make sure your dough stays at a nice consistency, but it works the arm muscles and makes for great exercie. Set your oven to ~450 and leave cookie sheets inside. Take them out about five minutes before you're ready to make the cookies. Do NOT follow a recipe as far as bake time. The best thing to do is sit in the kitchen (maybe with a book) and watch your cookies. You want to be able to smell them, but don't want them to burn. You also want them to be cooked all the way through. Each oven is different and again, trial and error is the best option. When taking them out of the oven, it's best to leave them on the sheet for an extra 2-3 minutes (again, varies). The cookie continues to cook on the hot baking sheet, giving it that melty yummy goodness feel. And that's about it. Experimentation is the key to great cooking of any kind.

Ya, peanut butter cookies are hard on the arm. That's why I prefer chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. No sifter required, though I like to fork it a bit. Just run a fork through it a bit, like your fluffing it. I suppose it's a form of sifting, I just prefer saying I fork my flour. XDD

This is true. I can't tell you how often I used to go through bad or alright batches before getting something down. It's all about the timing, how long things sit, etc. Whereas in cooking, I can let something cook and work on something else at the same time. Baking is an unforgiving mistress.

My cookies usually come off cleanly, but I have used the wedge trick for those stubborn ones. XDD Glad I was able to be helpful. ^-^
Itena
Cooking... I'm not that good of a cook. happy.gif;; Don't have the patience, really. Though I should.

Hey Faye, glad for you to have come! ♥ Let's have some fun with the rp! Me and Hikaru-san will inform you of Fuu's current situation soon. For now though, homework! D:
Faye
Ok! Take all the time you need. ^-^
Yuki Fukurou
Oh...a new member. Didn't seem to notice. Hehe. Anyways, I'm Yuki Fukurou (which means snow owl). Nice to meet ya.

Heh...I've been contemplating on whether to join in on the RP that Itena-san and Hikaru-san are in at the moment. But...I'm approaching finals and I'm just taking general ed. in a community college. I've got most of my notes set though, luckily.

Just out of curiosity...what manga have you read and what's your favorite type of cookie? Me...I usually like oatmeal raisin, considering I've heard that oatmeal's good for ya, so...I tend to get it whenever I can. Either that or I just add raisin to my oatmeal.

I'm not much of a cook...sort of. I just know how to make some dishes from my homeland overseas.
Tomoyo-san
Hello! Welcome Faye-chan!
Names Tomoyo-san (or Moyo-chan tongue.gif).
I'm the annoying 15 year old mod who changes her avatar and signatures alot happy.gif
Anyways welcome to MKR, it always nice to have new people joining happy.gif.

I also enjoy baking happy.gif Though, I don't think I'm really good. I'm curently takeing Food Technology at school, some products come out well, while others.... not so good.
My 2 worst products would have to be attempting to bake a self-altered Upside down cake (I had changed to toping to oranges and honey). It tasted okay, but the look of it looked.... deformed.
The other would be having to make a Cheese Cake. I unfortunatly used to wrong type of cream for the topping (though the bottom biscuit part came out quite nice), so the it didn't taste so good XP
But a product I can be proud of is my "Golden Vegetable Soup". It came out golden coloured and tasted lovely. And I made chocolate chip scones not to long ago, and they came out quite delusious tongue.gif

Anyway, enough about me talkin about food (i'm hungry tongue.gif).
Enjoy your stay happy.gif
(... *quietly waits for Shii-nee*).
Shiidou Hikaru
Hello Faye-san, welcome to the MKR Forum! happy.gif Years ago I used to be a big Cowboy Bebop fan, so Faye Valentine is the first person I thought of when I saw you here. happy.gif;; I know it's silly and I seem to think that you're nothing like Faye Valentine, but I haven't met very many Faye's. I guess that it's kind of a rare name nowadays.

Wow, I loved your thoughts on making cookies and I really agree with everything you say! ^__^ Also it's good to know that you like cookies because ...

*Dumps giant pile of cookies on Faye-san*

Teeheehee! They're mostly chocolate or chocolate chip cookies because I love chocolate! XD Now you're officially a member of the MKR Forum! Yaaayy! ^__^ Tomoyo-chan usually helps dig new members out from under my piles of baked goodies, but she's already been here. Hopefully she will be back soon! happy.gif;;

*Starts munching on cookies*

Mmmm ... choccy! happy.gif

I'm looking forward to playing the roleplay thread with you, but if you have any questions please let me know. Sometimes I wander away and get lost (I'm so ditzy and absent minded) so please be patient with me if I don't get back to you right away. I'm really sorry ... it just happens sometimes. v_v
Yuki Fukurou
Hehe...guess it's my turn to dive in. (goes into the big pile to fish Faye out). [How many cookies are in this pile?]

*sighs*.

I almost forgot to mention about the RP section. It's been a while since it's been used. Last time, I managed to make one, but completely forgot to join in at certain times, thereby, killing it. *groans*. Like Hikaru-san...my mind tends to sometimes drift a little too much as well.
Faye
Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes!

Yuki: Good luck with those finals! I just finished mine yesterday. Killer. But you should totally join the RP! The more the merrier! XD

I've read all types of manga. Some off the top of my head are, MKR (obviously), Death Note, Naruto, Fruit Baskets, and Full Metal Alchemist. I plan on getting into others like Black Cat and such. If you have any recommendations, they'd be greatly accepted. I'll read anything once, so any genre is good.

Favorite cookie, huh? Well, number one has to be chocolate chip. It's too gooey to pass up. Though I do enjoy oatmeal raisin. What kind of dishes do you cook?

And thanks for saving me. Though that is one way I wouldn't mind going in. Death by cookie.

Moyo-chan: Cooking is fun. and it doesn't really matter what it looks like as long as it tastes good. Unless that's your job, in which case, I can't help you. Making your own creations is fun. I once experimented by adding chicken seasoning to sloppy joe mix. The outcome was... interesting. Though I will say, that was the first time my sister ate sloppy joes and liked them. She's a bit out there.

Hikaru: I enjoy Cowboy Bebop too, though the name came before the show. Many people seem to think I took the name for that reason. I assure you, as much as she is an interesting character, I am nothing like her.

And I'm glad you liked the tips. And... uh-oh. *gets buried under pile of cookies* Yum, chocolate chip.

And no worries. Reality has a bad habit of making itself known at the most inconvenient of times. I look forward to RPing. XD
Yuki Fukurou
I'm actually Filipino...well...sort of. I was born here, but my parents are from the Philippines.

Some of the dishes I've done are adobo, mainly pork, and a dish I think my friend, Shiro-kun is also familiar with. It's basically ground pork made into small meatball sizes cooked with spinach, lettuce, and soy sauce.

As for cooking in particular...so far...I've only done oatmeal.

I've done a little bit of baking, mainly rum cake and chocolate brownies.

(Picks out an oatmeal raisin cookie from the pile). *munches while thinking: 'I've gotta take it easy on those sweets. At least one wouldn't hurt.'*

Oh yeah...almost forgot to mention...when I noticed you guys mentioning Cowboy Bebop...I remembered that when me and Shiro-kun attended last year's anime expo...which...I now considered to be a pretty good experience...we watched an anime version of "American Idol" called AX Idol 2007. Basically, this not only consists of singing, but also voice acting as well.

And if memory serves me right...she did the dubbing for Faye in Cowboy Bebop, as well as Umi from MKR, and Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. *chuckles*. Oh...I still can't get that "whack-Mokona" scene out of my head.

That's cool. I'm a mixed breed myself. Half french, half portuguese. If your wondering how a marriage like that works out, I'll tell you. I doesn't. Ok, I'm a little harsh and biased. But the ideals of proper marriages are different in both cultures, not to mention they were both brought up completely different.

Those sound good. I love trying different foods. You get a taste of the culture. XD

I love rum cake and brownies. They're delicious. My mouth's watering just thinking about it.

Unfortunatley, I've never been able to attend an expo or con before. I hope to next year, once I get a job settled. Then of course, I need to find someone to go with. But that sounds like a lot of fun! I love Haruhi!! Her dance is kick ass. XD

Dubbing is tricky business, but if she can do all three, more power to her!

Yeah, my best friend and I practiced a few times on the dance for the little dance contest they had over at the anime expo over in Long Beach. It was fun.

Ya, that's true. I once tried this main course at a Chinese Cafe in Manchester, it didn't look very appatizeing (?), but it tasted so good when I finally tried it.
Unfortuantly, now that I'm in my 4th year at School, we're taking GCSE (General Certification of Secondary Education), and part of my food tech GCSE is to make each product look appealling to our targetted audience. Well thats the main idea anyway happy.gif.
