Full Version: Hikaru's Guilt
Magic Knight Rayearth > Fahren Concourse > Rayearth Characters > Lantis
Shiidou Hikaru
When Hikaru first met Lantis, she couldn't even look at him because of the guilt she felt for what had happened to his brother Zagato. She even invites Lantis to physically abuse her, but obviously Lantis is a gentleman and could do no such thing. That scene was a keen demostration of how low Hikaru's self-esteem had become at that point, she had become completely worthless in her own eyes.

I know the feeling. It's pretty rough, especially when you're trying to get your confidence back. I think Lantis let the whole thing slide because he had time to think about it while he was traveling and staying at Autozam. (I love Lantis!) Plus, there was also that whole issue when he was talking with Zagato about the Pillar system. I think the death of Zagato really opened up his eyes and just let him see from other people's point of view.

During the second season, Lantis also has a similar discussion with Clef about the pillar system. I believe that Lantis was wise enough to see that the pillar system itself was at fault. Clef agreed with him about that, but they were unable to find a solution to do away with the pillar. Certainly the death of Zagato, made the tragic Legend of the Magic Knights a personal issue for Lantis, so through his own feelings I suspect that he had some awareness of Hikaru's internal sufferings as well.

Could that possibly be the reaons why he started liking her? Or was it some sort of a curse on the family? XD

Shiidou Hikaru
Oooh, you've got me thinking now ... when exactly did Lantis start to like Hikaru? When he first meets the Magic Knights, he is very cold, and almost sneers at them. For sure he did not see them as friends. However, he changed his mind at some point, but when? The girl Mira that I was just writing about, might have had a part in it. Do you remember the scene of Lantis carrying Mira back to the living area? Hikaru joined them and started to talk with Mira, but Lantis remained quiet. I think that in Hikaru's conversation with Mira, Lantis was able to see that a Magic Knight wasn't an evil creature and that Hikaru was actually a very kind person. ^_^

Me: Yeah, I remember that scene. That could be it. Still, it would be funny if someone wrote a fic on how there's a curse on Lantis and Zagato's family that they would always fall in love with the Pillar. XD Was Lantis really sneering at them? I didn't notice that...I thought he was too distracted by Eagle...oh well. I'll go watch it again. ^^

Nova: *cough cough* Another excuse to watch Lantis up on the screen. *cough cough*

Me: :o Erm....Evil! Diiiiiiieeeee!

Nova: You hate me, so I love myself! You love Lantis so I'll go kill him now.

Me: No you won't!!!!!!

*sword slashing and all in the background with lightning bolts, thunder, and what-not*

Kero: Er...yeah. This is gonna take a while...*takes out popcorn*

Yukito: I want some!

Kero: Nooo! *runs away with Yukito streaming after him and the popcorn*

Me: Er...We're done, but...uh...ok...Stupid imagination, writing long posts about comical things that don't make sense! Ahh! Ahem! Ok, back to Lantis! ^^;;;;; Oooh! And another question. Why Hikaru? (Not that it's a bad thing.) If Lantis saw all of the knights that way, when did Hikaru in particular appeal to him? (Curiosity's going to kill me, but satisfaction will bring me back! Yay! ^-^)

Seraph
this is sad. I'm right in the middle of Season two right now and I can't even remember ^_^;;

This would have happened in the early episodes of season 2 when Lantis first meets the Magic Knights and a little later in his first personal encounter with Hikaru. The latter gets interrupted by Primera as she has become annoyed with Lantis being near Hikaru. Of course Primera didn't realize that the meeting there had nothing to do with romance.

I don't actually think that Lantis ever treated the Magic Knights coldly. I think it was more like that's how he is, he's the type to hide his emotions, and that can be misinterpreted as being cold. For me, Lantis isn't really the type to treat anyone coldly, he's just too darned nice for that. In fact, Lantis is extremely kind and gentle(one of the kindest of the bunch); which could be a similarity between him and Hikaru, though I could say that they each express their kindness in different ways. Another thing about him is that he can probably read other people easily, which could explain why he fully forgave Hikaru.

As to when he fell in love with Hikaru, I think it's one of those loves that grows over time, without showing itself till the very end. Although, I had thought about that whole family curse thing too, before. XD You could even take that concept to Lantis' friendship with Eagle Vision, since Eagle could of been the pillar too.
