Coca-Cola (often "Coke") is a carbonated cola and the world's most popular soft drink.
The Coca-Cola Company's headquarters are located in Atlanta, Georgia, where the drink was first concocted around 1886.
Originally designed to be sold at soda fountains, Coca-Cola was later sold in bottles whose distinctive shape has become a part of the drink's branding.
Coca-Cola has been criticized for its possible negative health effects, spawning many urban myths.
Coke, any other pleasures..

What I find amazing is that you ignorant fucktards come here and poop on me and then expect me to patronize your sites. >_>

They use all sorts of e-mail domains and IP addresses, so it's hard to pin down a single source for the bots. I do ban their e-mail domains and IP's as they come along, but the large number of various ones leads me to believe that search engines like google have opened up their databases of url's for spammers to use. For sure I know that google has crawled this place heavily and if you do a search you'd get about 1500 results for this forum. erm, just checked again and the results are over 3000 now. So lots of chum for the sharks to feast on >_<

Lol, just be a bigger fish! XD

I've thought of a few more things to do that might help. Bots are scripts and like programs there is a limit to what they can do and have no creativity of their own. Certain things are different about this forum from the other one on the main site. This forum has place names that include "discussion" "Chat" and "General" and the url has the word "forum" in it, so a bot designed to search for keywords would find those here, but not at the main site forum. So I've thought of being a little more creative and rename some things in order to confound a keyword search. Any thoughts Batou-san?
Dr. Casey
Nice. Even if they don't succeed in keeping bots out, those are some cool names regardless.

I tend to agree with Casey-sensei, there are some really cool ideas that you have there Batou-san. happy.gif It would be best to keep the theme limited to MKR, so using Autozam and Chizeta is fine, but I'd not want to venture off into TRC (unless we want to start a TRC roleplay section). The main site forum uses "Library" for their fiction section, so something like that might work too, but I don't want to directly copy the idea ... hmm maybe something like "Presea's Desk" would work. I love the Theatre idea for the roleplaying sections, so I'll probably fix that right away. The Immigration service is funny too, so I'd like to use that as well. Hopefully I can make it so that newcomers won't take it seriously and think that they'll have to fill out a lot of forms to join up and post here. happy.gif;; Any more things that everyone can come up with, I'd like to hear too. I'm not too concerned about anime being a keyword because bots are designed to spam a wide range of forums across the net and anime might be too specific of a parameter.

Okies, I went through and renamed a lot of things so hopefully no one gets lost or confused. happy.gif;; This weekend should give me some idea about how effective it will be if the bots try to hit us again. So far I like very much how it brings the MKR theme out more, but if there are any more suggestions, I'd really like to hear them.

Hmm, something interesting is now going on. Ever since I renamed a lot of things, the spambots no longer hit this section, but for some reason they now show up in the introductions section. I'm not sure if they're getting "service" as a keyword, or if the program just posts in the first forum section it finds if no keywords are located. The renaming certainly did affect the bot behavior there's no denying that, but I need to figure out how to prevent them from finding us in the first place.

The last suggestion you have is one that I've thought of already and is actually very easy to implement. I would just rename the "forum" directory to something else ("hikaru" for example) which would break all of the links to this place cached by google or any other search engine. However, to prevent them from finding us again, the new url could not be published in text form (which includes peoples signatures at any forum). After that I would have to make an image with the complete url in it that people would have to read and manually type to get to the new location (no hyperlink clicking). The image would have to be located in a page at the forum index's current address. Another thing to watch out for is replies to topics. If a bot sets the topic to be subscribed to, an e-mail will be sent to it that will include the address of the topic, giving them valuable information (like what the new forum url is) so people should not reply to spam topics ever. (I did with this one though. XD)

Another answer that I could implement is requiring admin validation for new accounts, which means that new accounts would have to be manually approved by me before they could post. The security image currently being used is of course not randomly generated, computers are incapable of such things. It does generate a long code which is used to concoct the image and the code can be read from the registration page. So a savvy programmer with IPB source code could write a script that can interpret the code and "crack" the security image. I am pretty much certain that this has been done and that's how the bots are still getting in, although not as many as before.

As usual I agree with Sun Tze 100%, it is foolish to deny the determination of bots to assault our forum, so we must continue to derive, plan, and implement our defenses.
Ruby-chan
consider this one confused >.<
Ruby-chan
wow even reading it another time and i still dont get it
chi
don't worry im confused i never saw shii-chan could get so mad cause shii-chan is a nice admin (no dis-respect to anyone if thats the case)

^^ *peace out*

chi-chan ^^

Hehe, yes I'm just as human as everyone else so I do get angry from time to time unfortunately. However, as Chi pointed out I'm also the admin here which means that I need to behave responsibly and provide a good example for everyone. I'm sorry about losing my temper a little bit up there. At the time it seemed justified, but that's the way it always seems to be when I let my emotions gain too much control over me. Hopefully no one will have to see any more things like that from me for a long time.
chi
it okay when people lose thier temper its kinda part of thier peronality i too find it annoying when they do pointless things like that
