So, I debated on putting this in the OVA section because it needs love, but I thought it fit better here. Anyhow, I thought I might have alittle fun and ask you all which ones you can think of. If you may or may not have noticed, in anime there are often name brand products shown under a warped version of their original name. Here are a few I have noticed that amuse me.


Sab-way--Rayearth OVA

Cock Cola--Witch Hunter Robin

Bebsi--Witch Hunter Robin

WacDonald's--Inuyasha


I know there are more out there, but thos ar some that I saw. I know there was storename in the OVA that got me too, but I cnanot rember it at the moment. And in the Tenchi OVA there was a incident where Coca Cola showed by name. ^.~

Just the other day I was watching one of the .hack OVA's and one of the characters goes into an internet cafe to use one of their comps. Right away she pulled up the Gooogle website (yes, with three o's in it.). It's a way for producers of anime and other kinds of video shows to show everyday things that we are all familiar with. However, to use the actual trademarked names they would have to take the risk of being sued for infringement, or purchase a license to use the name, both of which are costly alternatives.

Oh, here're the ones I've seen...

Took a while before I figured what they did it for, but:

Starbooks - Negima
Universal Stadium - Shimotsuma Monogatari (Movie)
Versach - Shimotsuma Monogatari (Movie)

In the last two, the movie would play a beep in the middle of Universal Stadium and Versach...the book uses the real names Universal Studios and Versace, but yeah.

In the X movie Kamui glides infront of a Coca-Cola sign. As far as I can remember it was the actual logo with the correct spelling.

I took some pictures in Hong Kong and Japan that could go there...that's the very purpose I took those pictures. ^^;;;

The last one I found was in Kanon, and it was "Mock Burger," a change from "MAKKU" (the nickname of McDonald's) to "MOKKU."
