Okay, it would be better if his eyes were open, but it's not a very expensive piece either. In any case, it's really cute! ^_^There's a couple of Hikaru cels there that I'm interested in as well. ^_^

Well, no good news Yuzuki-chan. There was too much going on at work yesterday, so I wasn't able to go and get the Fuu cel. Last night I had a meeting to go to, and by the time I returned home and tried to bid on the Zasu cel, it had already ended. I missed it by less than five minutes in fact. Both auctions went for pretty low prices too. v.v Gomenasai ... *cries*

awww.. it's okay... *cries* hehe XD I just wish you could have been there when it was all happening. Too bad you were so busy, eh? They were extremly low in price too v.v How much would you pay for a cel like that (if not bidding?) would it be a around 100 dollars or perhaps higher?

A hundred dollars is a pricey cel. The one of Zasu would only be 25-30 dollars or so. There are a lot of factors that affect the price of a cel - physical condition, number of layers, layers stuck/unstuck, background included, dougas (pencil sketches) included. Besides the physical factors, there is also the artisitic content. Main characters (Hikaru, Umi, Fuu) will always bring higher prices than minor characters like Zasu, sorry. ^_^;; Facial close-ups also bring higher prices, a particular pose or pleasing facial expression can also make a cel worth more. Special scenes can bring high prices an example of this would be a wedding scene with a main character in a wedding dress. Because it would be both unusual and beautiful, it would look more attractive on the market.



For me, the first impression is everything. The first time I see the picture tells me if I want the cel in the first place. Then judging from past experience, I'll somehow figure out how much I would be willing to pay for it. Sometimes I get outbid, but that only means the cel was more valuable to someone else than it was to me.

Oh o.o I didn't know all of those things involved in pricing a cel! ^^;; (heh.. can you tell i've never bought one?) That's interesting to read. How many cel's do you own Hikaru-chan? I never really thought of collecting anime cel's before.. but i would really like a nice Seishirou or Yuuto one ^o^;

Anime cels are something that I love to collect for two reasons. 1. I like artwork in general simply because I find it beautiful and pleasing to look at. I guess that's just a part of who I am. And 2. because these cels were photographed and used to make an anime series. Most of those cels, I can tell you exactly where they appear, in what scene, episode, etc. In this way I know that I actually own a piece of a series that I really love.



There's also something a little sad about them. When you grow to love an anime series or character, that gives them a spiritual reality. However, a cel painting is a reminder that these cels are the only physical reality that the character will ever have.
