Angelic Layer has come up here before I think, but I was able to see a couple of episodes yesterday. It wasn't what I was expecting really, the show sort of has a Beyblade or Pokemon feel to it which is unusal for a CLAMP show I think. There are various elements of many series combined in it. I mentioned one already, another is Misaki, the main character. She's a girl with a strong will but very unsure of herself, and she has a very cute personality. She reminds me a lot of Sakura. ^_^ In the show they use mechas to fight, but miniature ones on a tabletop area, so there is also a mecha/action element to Angelic Layer as well. Actually, the name "Angelic Layer" refers specifially to these tabletop competitions and I suspect they got the name from Evangelion. And I saved the best for last, Misaki's miniature mecha is called Hikaru. ^_^;; Hikaru has the appearance of a mecha or robot, but like all of the other "Angels", as they are called, Hikaru has a human face. She has reddish-pink hair and red eyes, sans the braid and school fuku, she is the spitting image of my namesake. I'll dig around on the net for an image so I can show you guys because you have to see her. ^_^;;



The character cast of Angelic Layer is much like Cardcaptor Sakura, but I didn't find the character interactions as appealing as in CCS. Of course I only saw two episodes, so that may improve later on. Some parts of the show were pretty funny and it's quite entertaining and light hearted, just not really deep like X and certainly not as dark.

hmm, I wanted to buy an Angelic Layer DVD for the longest time. I had seen pictures of it, and thought it would be a rather entertaining show to watch. I also knew there was an Angel named Hikaru, which made me even more intertested ^^; I found a few pictures of the Angel Hikaru that I will post.
