Full Version: Fell in love with this! ^^
Magic Knight Rayearth > Cephiro Concourse > Magic Knight Rayearth
Shiidou Hikaru
For years I was a big Tenchi Muyo and Utena fan, but a little while ago I found MKR, and I just fell in love with this show -the plot, the story, the characters, the music, the beautiful artwork, everything about MKR, I just can't get anough of!^^

At first I couldn't decide if I liked Umi more or Hikaru more. Eventually I decided on Hikaru, because she is so human, she makes mistakes like all of us do. She also finds out that the hardest battles in life are fought on the inside, and not on the outside.

All I can say that there is something about the bad guys (this isn't unusual 'cause in LORT forums I have joined a Nazgul-fanclub). Specially Alcyone. She is so cool. even thought she looses to the Magic Knight. Annother is Innova (hopefully I remember it right) even thoug he is not really a importan charricter(sp?) , there's something cool about him.

Shiidou Hikaru
I like Innouva too because like you say he's cool. Innouva has great confidence in his own abilities, he's clever and not afraid to fight. How much of the MKR series have you seen Amber? I could say more about Innouva, but I don't want to spoil anything for you. ^_^

Ten episodes from the beging. I don't mind if you me some thing that is going to happend. I love spoilers(sp?)!h

Shiidou Hikaru
Aha, so you're up to the point where Umi-chan awakens the first Mashin (Rune God) Ceres (or Selece). Innouva doesn't show up to fight the Magic Knights for a few more episodes yet. He is very powerful, and both times that the Magic Knights face him, they require some additional help to defeat Innouva. I really don't want to say anymore, that could really ruin it for you. ^_^;;

I understant if you don't want to tell anymore...

I'm starring to like Ascot. He's cute kid..

Shiidou Hikaru
When Ascot starts out, they present him as kind of a mischief maker. But later we learn that he really cares about the monsters that he can summon. He is just very misunderstood until Umi-chan makes friends with him anyways.

I just saw that episode today...

Cross my heart hope not to die

Swallow evil, ride the sky

Lose myself in a crowded room

You fool, you fool, it will be here soon

That scene is one of my all time favorite Umi-chan scenes. ^_^ When Umi is first introduced in the series, they make her out to be like a spoiled rich girl. However this scene with Acsot shows that she really isn't. She does have a good degree of maturity and compassion for others, even those that were mean to her in the past.

In the manga, this scene was combined in with episode 10, where Umi revives the Mashin Ceres/Selece. Umi's ability to forgive others was part of the test to prove the strength of her heart and worthiness to don Ceres.

I had bought the first two graphic novels a couple of years back and fell in love with this as well. Then watched the entire first season in one night. And later on the second season.

Anyways...I never did like Alcyone that much...as a matter of fact me friend and I made fun of her for awhile. *cringes*

And Umi...I never liked...even after she changed. I'm not a big Hikaru fan either...nope...my favorite is and always be Fuu! ^_^ I like her because she's smart, pretty, and wears glasses. :D

then Ferio. I fell in love with him at first sight. (I have his japanese chibi bio on me wall! :lol ) The green, smart ass-ness.

That and it helps that green is my favorite color. ^^

Shiidou Hikaru
Ahhh, a Fuu-chan fan!! Fuu can be a pretty funny character too, even though she seems very straight most of the time. Usually she'll just say some offhand remark very casually and in normal life I wouldn't think anything of it, but in Cephiro it would just be ludicrous. Fuu's also the only one lucky enough to have a boyfriend through most of the series. Fuu and Ferio look really good together. ^_^

Umi and Hikaru could be just as lucky with the boys too. Umi had Ascot throwing himself at her feet.... and Hikaru has Zazu ^^;; Are they just to clueless to see it?

Eh-heh .. I think that Umi is the only one that's totally clueless when it comes to guys. Hikaru is pretty naive and innocent, but she does recognize when a guy likes her. She warmed up pretty quickly to Zasu-kun, even though he is supposedly an enemy from Autozam. It's too bad that the plotline never let anything develop between them. As far as Umi goes .. Ascot better get himself a big mallet. :P

MKR has been my favorite anime of all time! This series was probably my 3rd of 4th anime I've ever seen, and this was definitely the shortest one I've ever seen. When it first came out, I thought it was the typical, save the world and kick the bad guys' butts, but it turned out to be something more in the end. (I won't spoil it. A website spoiled it for me before I watched it, but it still had a great impact.) I almost cried during the last episode. Ogata Megumi is very convincing as an actress.

At first, I thought Fuu and Emeraude were going to be my favorite characters. After the scene where Umi, Hikaru, and Fuu met Clef, I really started hating Umi. She acted so stuck up and rude. It was also this scene that I backed away from Fuu and really latched onto Hikaru. Hikaru became my favorite eversince. She was so much more compassionate than the other two, and though others may think she's naive, I think she really can look into other people's hearts and understand them. That really caught my attention. (After a while, Fuu proved to be too weak for me...I always loved strong characters. :p )

After a while, I got used to Umi and when she got her rune god, everything changed. I really understood where this girl was coming from, and I started appreciating her. Now I don't dislike her at all, but she's still far from being my favorite. Emeraude moved a bit down, too. It was more of an "out of sight, out of mind" situation with her. In the end, my favorite characters were Hikaru, Mokona, and Lantis. (You all can have the rest of the guys. I'm keeping these people! :lol I admit it...I'm head-over-heels for Lantis!)

The "bad guys" were really awesome! They weren't stereotypical characters that just HAD to be evil. They had their own motives and the majority of them made sense to me. It's the ambition that drives people.

The plot was just perfect. What starts off as your average girls saving the world is suddenly transformed to a battle for love and friendship, for the completing of the human soul. Clamp really was able to reach in and pull out so many things that it really amazed me that I could learn so much from an anime.

All of these were great, but I think the best was the whole system of Cephiro that Clamp created. I could literally ponder over it for hours and hours on end just explaining it to myself over and over, and each time I would think about it, there would always be something more to it.

I loved it! Absolutely loved it! I loved the series so much that I waited 6 years to have a chance to watch just the first season. :eek (My friend got the tapes, and I didn't know where to buy anime things at that time. No, I'm not exactly the most patient person in the world...) Right now, I finished watching the first two tapes of the second season and am gathering money to buy the rest. (I definitely agree that subtitled voices are MUCH better than the dub. I cringed when I heard all of their voices and the way they pronounced their names was just...horrifying...left...me...scarred... *choke* *cough* *pass out*) Wish me luck! ;)

Shiidou Hikaru
Good luck! ^_^

Lol, yes the dub voices were cast all wrong, well Fuu's was pretty close I thought. Hikaru and Umi actually had good, experienced VA's (Julie Maddelina and Wendie Lee), but their voices don't fit the characters which was a casting mistake. So I don't blame them, the director was at fault this time.

Umi-chan is soo obnoxious at the beginning isn't she? In the manga, she is even worse - Umi calls Clef all sorts of bad names, picks on Hikaru for being "boyish" and tries to use her magic power to do bad things. :P However when Umi is paired as the "straight man" with Mokona as a comedy team, they are hilarious together. ^_^ Umi's attitude at the beginning may seem to be the result of self-centeredness, but it really isn't. It's really self conviction. Umi knows very well who she is as a person, so the idea of becoming a Magic Knight is preposterous to her and she doesn't want any part of it. Eventually she embraces the concept, although not for Cephiro and Princess Emeraude, but for the sake her friends Hikaru and Fuu.

The "bad guys" in MKR is sort of a relative term. At the end of the first season, the three Magic Knights could be seen as the bad guys couldn't they? At some point there was even a discussion about that, and Umi and Fuu agreed to never play rpg's ever again.

Yeah, I read the manga. It was pretty funny with Mokona and Umi. I guess those made me love Mokona even more because I really disliked Umi at first. I'm okay with her now, and I really understand where she comes from. I guess after I saw how Hikaru reacted and compared Umi and Fuu to her, I got pretty upset.

CE Yume
Mm...I started to know of this anime when somehow...I found a notebook of it in my room some time ago. O.o;; I have no idea how I got it. And then later, I found a chibi Umi keychain. ^^;; (I think my mother got it when I was much younger...)

Later, I read the manga first, then watched the anime. I don't know, but Umi was my favourite from the start. ^^;;; I was alright with the rest. I guess it was because she's the funniest O.o;;...and, it was just normal of her to want to go home (but in a rather bratty manner XD).

Towards the end, Umi's character really matured (she doesn't scream that much now - except with Mokona ^^), probably because of the friendship she had with Hikaru and Fuu.

Besides that, I love Clef! ^^;; He's such a cute mage. XD And though he's really short-tempered, he's kind and caring as well. =^^= (I love his eyes...)

And I also like Mokona. Cute, fluffy and bouncy! ^^;;; Oh, and I also took a liking to Innouva...I don't know why...I just did. ^^;; I guess it's because of his intelligence and loyalty. ^_^

Shiidou Hikaru
The first time I found about MKR was from a friend that I helped run an anime board with, sort of like this one. She had a section for Rayearth and since I didn't know what it was, I asked her about it. The rest is history! ^_^

At first I think my favorite character was Umi-chan too, but after watching the whole series, I found that I like Hikaru more.
