MKR has been my favorite anime of all time! This series was probably my 3rd of 4th anime I've ever seen, and this was definitely the shortest one I've ever seen. When it first came out, I thought it was the typical, save the world and kick the bad guys' butts, but it turned out to be something more in the end. (I won't spoil it. A website spoiled it for me before I watched it, but it still had a great impact.) I almost cried during the last episode. Ogata Megumi is very convincing as an actress.
At first, I thought Fuu and Emeraude were going to be my favorite characters. After the scene where Umi, Hikaru, and Fuu met Clef, I really started hating Umi. She acted so stuck up and rude. It was also this scene that I backed away from Fuu and really latched onto Hikaru. Hikaru became my favorite eversince. She was so much more compassionate than the other two, and though others may think she's naive, I think she really can look into other people's hearts and understand them. That really caught my attention. (After a while, Fuu proved to be too weak for me...I always loved strong characters.

)
After a while, I got used to Umi and when she got her rune god, everything changed. I really understood where this girl was coming from, and I started appreciating her. Now I don't dislike her at all, but she's still far from being my favorite. Emeraude moved a bit down, too. It was more of an "out of sight, out of mind" situation with her. In the end, my favorite characters were Hikaru, Mokona, and Lantis. (You all can have the rest of the guys. I'm keeping these people!

I admit it...I'm head-over-heels for Lantis!)
The "bad guys" were really awesome! They weren't stereotypical characters that just HAD to be evil. They had their own motives and the majority of them made sense to me. It's the ambition that drives people.
The plot was just perfect. What starts off as your average girls saving the world is suddenly transformed to a battle for love and friendship, for the completing of the human soul. Clamp really was able to reach in and pull out so many things that it really amazed me that I could learn so much from an anime.
All of these were great, but I think the best was the whole system of Cephiro that Clamp created. I could literally ponder over it for hours and hours on end just explaining it to myself over and over, and each time I would think about it, there would always be something more to it.
I loved it! Absolutely loved it! I loved the series so much that I waited 6 years to have a chance to watch just the first season.

(My friend got the tapes, and I didn't know where to buy anime things at that time. No, I'm not exactly the most patient person in the world...) Right now, I finished watching the first two tapes of the second season and am gathering money to buy the rest. (I definitely agree that subtitled voices are MUCH better than the dub. I cringed when I heard all of their voices and the way they pronounced their names was just...horrifying...left...me...scarred... *choke* *cough* *pass out*) Wish me luck!
