Character Design?, The manga versus the anime Options

At first, I was extremely taken aback at the difference of Hikaru's character design (the hair really hit me. I tend to look at hair first since I live with a hairdresser of 25 years experience, otherwise known as my mother ) when I read the manga for the first time (no I'm still not done the manga, I need to buy the 2nd volume). Personally, I prefer the manga Hikaru, most people would, I think. But you know, buy the time I bought the manga; I had already been attached to the anime Hikaru. The manga's design was beautiful, and it was the original, but it almost seemed foreign to me. Like some kind of fanart. o_O;

What do you guys think?

Manga artists don't draw anime, so with different people doing the artwork there's bound to be a few differences here and there. Also manga is composed of still images which means a lot less of them have to be drawn so that means there are resources to put a lot more detail into manga than classic cel animation. CLAMP's work at the time Rayearth was drawn was very intricately detailed and very beautiful so I can see how you would like it more than the anime Itena-san These days very few artists put that much detail into their work because of time constraints, but a few still do ... Arina Tanemura comes to mind.

Some time ago I did my own drawing of Hikaru from the manga, but I'm such a twit that I can't even draw it in the right position on the paper @_@

Oh yes, Arina Tanemura is one of my favourite manga-ka! Though I think she needs to work a bit on the differences in faces, they all look the same. I know anime is generally like that; but even me, a long-time otaku, sometimes got confused.

Ah yes, that picture is a good start if you don't practice a lot.

Even if you are being an engineer weirdo, maybe this says that more engineers should look at art. Those were good, basic tips.

btw, and I know it's a bit late to ask this; but can I ask what anime is you avvie and sig from?

Utawarerumono, I've heard that name a few times. Even if it does have some flaws in the plot; I think I might just see it anyway.

To be honest, I'm really just gonna go and find it online at some streaming site; oh I am such a naughty girl. ;P
