The southern accents that these two had seemed quite strange to me. The middle eastern culture that they seem to be drawn from wouldn't have people with accents like that. But I suppose giving them an Osaka accent in Japanese would be just as silly, right? ^^;

Are you talking about the dub? I haven't ever watched the dub(and I'm never going to); but I can say that the Osakan accent was quite hilarious. I'm guessing they just wanted to add just a touch of silliness to create a few giggles. ^^
