Kiniro no Corda (La Corda D'Oro) Options

I quickly was absorbed by this series. The characters are like...wow. (Esp. the guys). (I know it might sound a bit odd coming from me). And the storyline...is just...it really caught my attention.

Plus...I really want to get the manga series as well.

The music is what really caught my attention though. I absolutely LOVE it.

I'm guessing from the title and your siggy image that the show is about musicians, but do you have any details that you could share with us Yuki-san? (no spoilers of course )

Sure thing, Hikaru-san.

Anyway it's about a 2nd year student named Hino Kahoko in a music academy where the students are divided into 2 groups. The normal students wear gray uniforms and those that chose a musical instrument as their course of study wear cream colored blazers. How it starts off is that it explains how the academywas founded by a musician that loved everything about music & made it his life to learn as much as he could. He finds a fairy one day & from that time on, took care of it. The fairy's name, Lili, created a school that teaches music. Hino then comes across the fairy & is surprised at first & tries to avoid it. Yet no matter where she went, it kept following her. Lili then explains that only those that could see him could possibly have some potential as a musician & were chosen to play in the concours (a type of musical competition where there are a select few to participate). Hino says that there's no way it could be her. The only way to make her understand was to not only tell her story, but to give her a magic violin as well. (Basically...it was all Lili that started the whole mess). This happened when he used his magic to ring the bells, stating about the concours and what not. And it turns out...Hino's name was also mentioned in regards to that concour competition. Yet even though she has never played an instrument before, let alone a violin, she then decides to give it a try.

...I seriously envy both Hino and Tsuchiura...yeah, I gave in and watched episodes two and three last night (I didn't care about episode one, since I only needed a sample of Gossec's Gavotte in D)...Hino has a magic violin which makes her play (sort of) well whenever she has the emotion to do well, and thus plays the Gavotte without scratching the strings (like I did last night) and then in episode three Tsuchiura plays Chopin's Fantasie-Impromptu! What pianist doesn't dream of playing that piece! But unfortunately, for many playing the Fantasie-Impromptu is only a dream...and it is only a dream for me as well...*sigh*

Yes, my piano book has the piano piece for the Gavotte in D, and I've attempted it...and...I "learned" it today? Needs more practice, but yeah...

I envy Hino for her magic violin and Kyoushirou for being able to play beautiful pieces without even playing without even really playing properly...Kyoushirou has a magic violin too, I tell you! ;-;

...and I thought Seisou's just a regular school, divided into the Music...departmentish area and the General Ed area. ...I don't think you can get into a music academy without even playing an instrument...or even knowing that a violin sounded so beautiful.

I probably won't continue the anime...I don't have the motivation to do so. Manga, here we come....the downside though is that I may not know how certain pieces sound...ah well.

Ahhh! Now I remember where I'd seen this before! Last fall or last summer I was at the hair salon waiting to get my hair done and had found a shoujo magazine there to read. I don't recall what the name of it was, but it was in English and one of the mangas in it was La Corda D'Oro. There was only one chapter, but it was rather interesting to read. Poor Hino just seemed so confused about her new school and that was what I remember most about it. It's good to see that they made an anime out of it.

Perhaps it was Shojo Beat magazine, since the only published magazines I really know of are Shonen Jump, Shojo Beat, and Raijin (which I never really see). Anyway, the manga version of La Corda D'oro is published under Shojo Beat.

I have read the second volume...I am satisfied that the translators said "Fantaisie-Impromptu," and not "Fantasia," as a certain fansubber called it. ...I never knew Chopin had anything adapted for the violin; I must research that...

*sighs*. I've finally seen all the episodes...and...though many fans of this series thought that Hino Kahoko would end up with someone...after seeing the episode before the last one (24)...I thought to myself...technically possible. However...in storyline...definitely not. Because as clearly stated when I watched the final episode...she loves her violin.

Anyway...overall this was a great anime. I especially like the different pieces played throughout the episodes.

...let me ask...did anyone, I would figure it were either Kahoko or Len, play a piece by Schubert called La Serenade? I'm learning it on the piano...under the name Standchen and arranged by Liszt.
