General Roleplay Forum Guidelines (Updated) - Please Read Options

These are simply guidelines, which give an idea as to what rules to follow, and do not necessarily have to be followed in every topic. To know what rules are in a topic, please refer to the post in any given RP in which rules are specified.

I. Using this forum:
- This forum, as its title says, is for general roleplay. That means that whatever goes in here does not fit in one of the three topics outside which are Magic Knight Rayearth, Sailor Moon, or Cardcaptor Sakura.
- Now that you've decided general roleplay is in fact where your RP should go, anything can go in here including anime, movies, books, or original stories.

II. It is important that things run smoothly in a roleplay:
- Any type of flaming (including trolling (click if you don't know what this means)) will not be tolerated in any topic. Flames will be deleted. Trolls will be referred to administration.
-Spamming will also be considered a disruption of the flow of topics. Spam will be deleted.

III. For the sake of understanding:
- Players will not take control of another player's character without express permission by the original player. Topics posted before today's date will be exempted from this rule unless otherwise specified in the rules of any given topic.
- Please use good grammar. It is understandable if there is a grammar or spelling mistake here or there, but unclear sentences or posts often pose a great difficulty to many players. This does not in any way mean that foreign players not fluent in English are breaking the rules...your efforts in our language are greatly appreciated and we do want you here. Do not be discouraged if you think your English is wrong. We will be happy to assist you if you have any questions.
- When starting a new topic, please make sure all aspects of the story, including rules and the story itself, are clear so that players can understand what is going on and how they can contribute to the story. Clarity is often one of the deciding points for a player to join.
- Any comments made outside of the RP should be marked as OOC ("out-of-character"). When going back in character, please make this clear somehow...like using IC ("in character").

IV. Regarding content:
- It is preferred that things of generally inappropriate nature are not portrayed in any way, but in the end it is the topic maker that decides what is allowed and what isn't. Please specify what kind of behavior can be allowed by using a rating chart similar to this one or specify the ages allowed:
G (All ages) - No inappropriate material whatsoever. Violence is often portrayed as comic violence, and is often not the main focus of the story. Humor is kept civilized.
PG (Generally teen and up) - Some crudeness, etc.
R-15 (Restricted 15 and up) - May touch on controversial material such as murder, etc. More crudeness is allowed.
R (Restricted 17 and up) - Basically contains more of what may be touched on in R-15.
Z (18 and up) - If you really want to go here, this includes what generally falls under pornography, lots of sex-related material, excessive killing, gore, violence, etc.
- In general, more controversial material will be tolerated as the rating rises.

V. It's now the topic starter's choice:
- Any further rules may be specified within your topic.
- All guidelines can be bent a little to meet everyone's needs. However, flaming will absolutely not be tolerated.

VI. Closure and Deletion
- In order to keep the forum clear of inactive topics, deletion will occur around the beginning of every quarter of the year. First quarter begins today, August 13th, 2006. All quarters following will begin every three months on the 13th.
- Topics whose participants are at least semi-active in other parts of the board (and have not mentioned hiatus of online activity) will be deleted if inactive for at least three months.
- Topics whose participants are no longer active will be deleted if inactive for at least six months.
- The starters of now inactive topics may opt for closure over deletion.
- Only the starter of a topic may request deletion of their topic.
- Topics that have been overrun by interruptions, arguments, flaming, and are now generally off-topic are eligible for deletion.
- If I find a topic is eligible for deletion, I will place "[MARKED FOR DELETION - MM/DD/YY]" in the title, where "MM" is the month number, "DD" is the day number, and "YY" is the year. If no one responds to it within seven days of being marked it will be deleted.
-(Update 11/12/06): Replace "delete" with "archive."
-(Update 12/22/06): This section is henceforth declared un-operational. Closure and deletion will occur upon request only. Archiving will not take place.

If anyone has any suggestions for the betterment of this topic (like if you catch typos or grammar mistakes or something unclear), do not hesitate to tell me or suggest how I can make this topic more clear.
