^ There are some things you don't agree in? Perhaps you could tell me which ones? I don't know, but if there's any misunderstanding maybe I can clear it up. Of course, it may or may not be a misunderstanding, I just want to make sure.
The fasting was really fun. It was hard at some points (never go to a food court an hour before you're supposed to finish fasting, seriously!), but it was very much worth it. After the fasting was over, whenever I ate food during the day, I felt like I was indulging or something. ^^; -------------------- When Life gives you lemons, just burn them away! ^ Was correct with both assumptions. I am willing to jump into religious discussions, and I also think you're harmless. ;P
Well, from what I've read, it seems you're investigating different religions, and I say go for it! Everyone should seek the truth for themselves, it's actually one of the teachings of my religions. As I suspected, there really isn't anything for me to say about the Baha'i Faith's idealistic nature, except that I think that Idealism balanced with realism is the key, and that's what I think the Faith does. You need idealism, I even consider it to be a virtue. Of course, I could say more, but my little brother really wants to get on the computer now. ^^; If you want me to emphasize, please ask. -------------------- When Life gives you lemons, just burn them away! ^ "hope for the best, prepare for the worst". I wonder why I never heard of that saying before? Hmm... I like it. :]
I don't find anything strange with those last three doctrines. You need a universal language so that people may understand each other and therefore it will help in the unification of mankind. I found a quote from the writings that talks about it. "O members of parliaments throughout the world! Select ye a single language for the use of all on earth, and adopt ye likewise a common script. God, verily, maketh plain for you that which shall profit you and enable you to be independent of others. He, of a truth, is the Most Bountiful, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. This will be the cause of unity, could ye but comprehend it, and the greatest instrument for promoting harmony and civilisation, would that ye might understand! We have appointed two signs for the coming of age of the human race: the first, which is the most firm foundation, We have set down in other of Our Tablets, while the second hath been revealed in this wondrous Book." (Baha'u'llah: The Kitab-i-Aqdas, page 88) The Extremities of wealth and poverty should be abolished, because both extremities create suffering. For the poverty, it creates times of hardships and struggle; and with the wealth, it causes spiritual suffering; such as materialism, and greed(there are many exceptions to this though, don't get me wrong). If we abolish these extremities, there will be more happiness. It also brings about more equality among humanity if we abolish these extremes. And for the last doctrine, we are talking about an ideal system to eventually come. If you think about what it's supposed to do, then you could say this could help abolish wars. Of course, I haven't actually thoroughly touched up on this subject, so I might read up some more of the writings about this. ;P I hope it doesn't sound like I'm just trying to contradict you... D: Ahahaha, it's kind of late; I'm a bit drowsy... *yawn* But I'm not usually tired at 9:45.... Hmm... -------------------- When Life gives you lemons, just burn them away! ^ Magical thinking huh?
While there is no such thing as magic, I have to say I completely 100% agree with The Secret. The thing is, I replace the "universe" with God. You have to believe in yourself, and trust in God. Now, not a lot of people believe in that kind of thing anymore, but take it this way. God can do anything. Beyond even our most wildest dreams. Uh, this is kind of hard to explain since my thoughts on it are rather scattered, but I have tried it out myself. I was in P.E., shooting hoops. I was in front of the basket, and I thought, "Okay, this one is going to be shot perfectly, but it's not gonna get in." It doesn't get in. The next one "It's gonna get in." It gets in. And so I did this five or six more times, and each time the ball obeys my command. Now, in the end, there's no concrete proof, so it really depends on what you believe in. I'd say people are underestimating this world and their own capabilities. People forget(in fact, a lot don't believe) that there actually is a spiritual part of life; in fact, this material world is temporary. But again, it's not magic. It's not a wish granting system. It's not as strong of a thing as in Cephiro. ;P But it's there, I truly believe that. Tell me if I'm not clear, I've never been good at explaining things. -------------------- When Life gives you lemons, just burn them away! HIKARU SHIDOU, BEST ANIME CHARACTER THE WORLD WILL EVER SEE. ^ Woah, sudden pop in! lol. ;P
Well, I've been reading your post several times, Batou-chi, but I have to shamefully say that I don't quite completely comprehend all your points, and some things confused me; though not your fault... probably because I am merely an inexperienced fifteen year old youth, a child who hasn't quite matured enough. It frustrates me a lot, actually, it makes me feel so incompetent to explain my beliefs properly. But I shall try to respond nonetheless...(forgive me if I misunderstand anything in any way, shape or form!!!! >.<;;;;;;) I might be totally misunderstanding right off the bat, and I have a feeling you'll be correcting me pretty soon, but are you, perhaps, implying that The Baha'i Faith believes that Satan exists? For in reality, this is not so, we do not believe Satan exists, rather Satan is a symbolical figure, a simplified version of the animal or insistent side of ourselves that we must always fight. That inner struggle is also what was depicted as the war between the angels and demons. But of course, you probably were implying something else, and I repeated something that you might have already known. (Btw, I did not think you were an atheist, or a "bible-thump") And as for the power of the will, and the human psychology, again I could not completely comprehend everything(I feel like an idiot, to be honest). Perhaps I should just explain in a different way what I believe. I believe(and the Baha'i Faith believes) God is the Greatest Mystery. Man shall never find out the whole truth of God, and even if that knowledge was given to him on a silver platter, we would not be able to comprehend it. And God does whatever he pleases and we are not to question it. In fact, nobody takes God seriously anymore, in this society; and many underestimate Him and His abilities. But this is natural, considering the fact that there are many who do not believe in Him at all. In the end, I think that the only thing to say would be to research the Baha'i Faith much, much, much more. For in the end, though the essential objective of a Baha'i is to teach and spread the Cause(beware, I say teach, not preach, we do not teach merely to convert), there is a certain point where I can say no more, and your own individual investigation of the Truth must start. Even though you said you had already researched the faith; I, myself, a Baha'i from birth, who has learned and has read the Writings many, many times, has time and time again discovered something that I had no previously knowledge of. One of the things that Baha'is are told to do is to pray and read the Writings every morn and eve. And even after all of that, the reality is if someone does not believe, then that is that. I cannot change your mind, and I think that in the end, everything depends on your opinion. I don't know if it would help or not, but if you read "Some Answered Questions", the author being Abdu'l-Bah? himself, you may learn things... and you may have already read it. But I do know that it's a very helpful book, and I even have a link to the online version to it. http://reference.bahai.org/en/t/ab/SAQ/ I'm... a bit afraid you might take this wrongly, for a lot of people do. I'm in no way trying to force my beliefs on you, or anything like that, but I believe that it would be good to read the writings some more. I'm sorry if it does seem like that. Ugh, even though it was I who said I liked these discussions, you can't read into another's mind, and so I try not to make assumptions, and then I become overly careful, like in this post. I like discussions, but on the internet it is hard to figure out people, since you can't see them in their everyday life. It's fun otherwise, but when you don't know of another's feelings, then it's as if you have become colour blind, and can't tell whether the wire to deactivate the bomb is the red one or the green. And when you don't really comprehend 100%, then it is even harder, I guess. I must be a really weird person, I know. Know at least that I'm sincere, and that I don't think you're as scary as I hint out in this post, I just have to be careful, lest I offend or anger a heart. It is hard to put down one's feelings and thoughts in words. I may have just ridiculed myself with this post. ;P -------------------- When Life gives you lemons, just burn them away!
