9/11 - Where were you? Options

People usually have very clear memories of tragic events like 9/11 so I'd like to hear about where everyone was and what you were doing at the time.



I first heard about it in the morning when I was at work and thought that someone screwed up and flew a small private plane into one of the buildings by mistake. But when I went and looked online and saw that it was a big commercial jet, it was like ...WTF? Then I saw the second one and the third at the Pentagon, it was just myself eyewitnessing pure madness. Everyone in the department went into the conference room and watched the disaster on CNN. Some people were crying, but I did my best not to. I stayed and watched in stunned disbelief until the second tower went down.

...in 2001, I would still wake up before school to watch morning cartoons...>>



So I planned to do that, and I got into the bed before the TV and turned it on...to find that the cartoon channel had news on it...I experimented with a few more channels to see what else was there, but every channel had exactly the same news report on it...



...which is when I realised that something was really wrong...that's all I remember...especially, since I live in California, and my relatives in New York don't work anywhere near the areas attacked...



...but...I do remember the insanity shown on news reports...horrifying...sickening...

Hmm.. I remember sitting outside at school during a lunch break. My two friends went home for lunch, and when they arrived back they told me that the twin towers had went down. I didn't really know what they were talking about... so when I went home and checked the news I saw it for myself....

::sighs:: This makes me feel young. I believe that I was in 4 or 5 grade when the planes hit, so I don't really remember much of anything. I have a fuzzy recollection of a teacher running into our room and turning on the television...



I was too young to fully realize what was happening... how many people were killed... ::shudders::

It is hard to believe like Batou said, that they were able to get as far as they did with only box cutter knives. The fourth plane was brought down by passengers that overpowered the hijackers so at least in theory what happened on 9/11 could have been avoided. A deterrent force - the people on the planes - was present in each case, but a lack of awareness and an overly cautious policy towards hijackings that emphasized the safety of the passengers over the safety of others elsewhere prevented that force from being used. It's not likely to ever happen again I don't think. In the future, I think that it's much more likely that passengers will take action against hijackers because now we all know the consequences of not doing so.

In school, my freshman year of high school. Our English teacher let us watch what has happened on TV. But I did hear about the terrorist attack while I was getting ready for school.

Umm, if I actually remember correctly(not likely), I was suffering from rather bad depression at the time of the attack. There was enough antidepressants and antipsychotics in my bloodstream to kill a small horse. So the news really didn't phase me. I didn't sleep for a week or two afterwards due to paranoia.

i was in my room listening to the radio. At first I thought it was a joke. the station was known for doing those kinds of things. Then I went out into my family room and caught a look at the TV. I dropped my shoes onto my bare feet. I didn't care. I sat down. Hard. even though I didn't quite understand what was going on, I knew that a hell of a lot of people were dying. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen. I just sat there on the floor, dumbfounded.......like some village idiot...................................................................sorry. things like that get to me. Pain....suffering.....pointless death......sorry.......
