Episode reviews for the second season Options

I'm going to order MKR Season 2 for my birthday coming up, so I'll give my thoughts on the episodes after watching them like I did with the first season.

Episode 46: Hikaru in Shock, the Truth about Nova

Hikaru's battle against the blue robot continues and seemingly comes to an end as she brings it to its knees with some powerful flame spell. Clef takes this opportunity to tell her about the origin of Nova, how she was created from the emotions Hikaru felt during the battle against Emeraude. Now we're getting somewhere. Perhaps with this newfound understand of Nova, Hikaru will soon be able to find a way to kill the bitch.

Meanwhile, the large group of Umi, Fuu, Ferio, Lady Aska, Sang Yung, Tatra, and Tarta rushes through the corridors of Cephiro Castle and comes across the red robot. I like this little group... it's a diverse, colorful bunch of characters in a unique combination. It's interesting the way their vivid personalities cool down somewhat and all meld together. They all seem a lot more normal and easygoing. Anyway, some more fighting and heroics take place, and then Umi and Fuu OHKO the enemy with new spells season one style.

Clef and Presea attempt to convince Alcyione to tell them where Lady Debonair's hideout is, but she refuses because a world without Zagato is one she doesn't care about. Useless to the end. (Or not, there's still three episodes left.) Alcyione must have pretty crappy self-esteem. Ascot, Caldina, and Lafarga all started off villains (Lafarga wasn't in control of himself, but still), but they all reformed by the end of the first season and have all been a big help throughout the second. Alcyione's the only one that reprised her role as an enemy. Maybe she'll redeem herself after this war is over... or maybe she'll do so by the end of the series. We'll see.

Ascot shows his maturity by saying that even if Umi doesn't love him back, he can be content in his love for her. Yeah... I bet that conviction will last real long. I'm sure you'll get depressed sooner or later, Ascot. What he said does have a lot of truth to it, though... and he and Umi have barely interacted. I'm sure he can win her over if they ever get the chance to spend more than two minutes together.

Hikaru and Eagle have a nice, long talk. Hikaru's breakdown was an emotional and well-acted scene in both versions. If Eagle survives the series, hopefully he won't ever be involved in a war like this again. He's just too cool a guy to constantly be involved with something so negative. We're getting down to some of the major issues now... who will be the Pillar? What will Hikaru do if it's her? I have a bias towards her (guess it's just Main Character Syndrome) and think it would be damn interesting if she was the one, but she has her own life in Tokyo which is completely separate from Cephiro and the other three countries.

Nova feels a new emotion in this episode: sadness. It makes her more interesting, but she hasn't won me over. Kill the wench. The episode ends with Cephiro's perpetual self-destruction continuing even further.

Rating for Episode 46: Good

Badass Scene of the Episode Award: Unlike the last episode, this episode's BSotEA is pretty clear cut. The award goes to Umi and Fuu powering up for their attack. I doubt I really need to explain.
