I'm just curious about something. Everyone who has posted here obviously likes the anime or manga of Magic Knight Rayearth. (I mean, what would be the point of posting here, right?) I want to know what drew you into the series? Did the animation, characters, or plot intrigue you?

For me, it was the character design. I watched a one-minute preview of the series on a Rurouni Kenshin VHS tape. The character design captivated me. I wanted to see it so badly after watching one single preview. I couldn't find it in the store for the longest time, so the preview was all I had. I watched it like 10 times in one day, wondering what it was about XD

Like the flames I lost you to, sadness overwhelms me, too

The rain sends shivers down my spine and seeps into my memory

Who was it that loves you so? Who was it that hates you so?

I gasp in pain- the memories begin to swirl inside my mind

I first found out about MKR from a friend. She showed me some of the artwork, and I thought it looked really cool and pretty at the same time. So I did some more research on it, and found out that it was a sword and sorcery themed show. Certainly, that's nothing new to me, but having three girls as the heroines was a new twist. I got the VCD's and I was totally hooked and bought the real DVD's shortly afterwards. ^_^

I picked up one of the manga out of curiosity, and in searching for more stumbled across the anime. I've been an addict ever since. Have box sets of the first two seasons and the Rayearth OVA

Hiya Kagura-chan, welcome back! happy.gif It sounds like you need another compy at your house if one isn't enough to go around. Sometimes I'm not able to use mine either, but I can find other things to do like reading manga or watching anime if I still need some entertainment. XD

YAY i found the topic (finally).
I've only watched 4 episodes of Rayearth, but i like it (I haven't seen Magic knight rayearth) biggrin.gif i like most of CLAMPS work biggrin.gif
I guess my fave knight is... Umi-san. And Makona-san is so kawaii biggrin.gif
I never seen the japanese, and the english is.. kinda... weird in a way. I guess it just how the word or sentence were spoken (if that made sense biggrin.gif )
But other the that, Rayearth is good (i got notebooks of it biggrin.gif) biggrin.gif

There have been many anime series that I've seen since, but MKR will probably always be my favorite anime series. Hopefully you'll be able to see the rest of it too Tomoyo-chan because I think that you would like the rest of it very much. Afterwards it's okay if you don't want to start an MKR fan site and change your name to Hikaru ... after all I'm a bit more ditzy and impressionable than the average anime nut. tongue.gif

I first heard about it after watching the 2nd opening of the season, which was nothing more like a trailer after I borrowed a Rurouni Kenshin DVD. Then I bought the OVA which then got me totally hooked. I did a comparison of English & Japanese voices after a while & it occurred to me that the Japanese ones were obviously the same in the anime series itself (which didn't take me long to figure out). (Though...I'm curious as to how the others sounded like in the anime series).

My favorite characters would have to be...Hikaru (I find her pretty & adorable), Mokona (totemo kawaii), & Lantis (because he's SO cool!)

Naturally, I'm attracted to any activity, whether it is in a forum I know nothing about or not, and in the case of this post, that is entirely true...

Though I can't really say I was attracted Magic Knight Rayearth in any way before coming here. It was at least half a year after joining that I saw any anime episodes, which were interesting story-wise, actually, but I didn't really find myself getting too interested in it, and the manga I had read one or two volumes quite some time before. I commend the manga and its artists, however. Wonderful story mixed with their signature art. For a CLAMP fan, what more can one ask for?

Actually, Magic Knight Rayearth was the very first series that got me on manga in the first place (and very soon Kisa-chan, too ^^). See, I had been given a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble (it was actually just around this time last year), and so I was there looking for something I could get. I was just getting into the manga-style of art, so I was looking around the store, and the cover of the MKR book (2nd one) caught my eye. It looked cool, and it had the same manga-style I was trying to learn, so I picked it up and started flipping through it.

I ended up reading practically the whole book. I didn't buy it though, because I found a Shoujo art book instead (and I am soooooo glad I got that--I still use it and it's extremely helpful in my art. ^^). Instead, I just remembered the title of the book and put the entire series on hold at the Library (good ol' Libraries. biggrin.gif). I read the series 6 times. rolleyes.gif I liked the series so much, that I figured there must be some kind of fan site for it or something. So I found this site. biggrin.gif I wanted to read other manga books like Rayearth, so I started to look for other cool series done by CLAMP, and then just other manga in general.

By now (practically a year later) I think I've read over 200 manga books (although I think it's closer to 300 now). tongue.gif Anyhoo, sorry for making y'all sit through my manga life story. laugh.gif Thank you CLAMP and Rayearth! Yay!

For me it was thanks to CLAMP's interesting love for alternate universes and connecting their series. You see, I had just finished watching Angelic Layer; and I was really in love with Hikaru (I was in love with Hikaru before I even watched MKR! Now that's what I call real life foreshadowing! ♥), so when I wikied it and found out where the Hikaru-bot came from, I obviously wanted to see it. I mean, I was a bit sad that Hikaru was only a robot, I wanted to see what she would be like as a human. So I watched the first episode on youtube, watched the second episode on youtube shortly after, and it became one of those "watch the series all in one sitting because it's soooo awesome O_O" times. Then it sort of grew on me, and here I am! XD

Yuss!! Huzzah for Rayearth, whot is awesome! XD Personally, I read the manga first. In fact, it was the very first manga series I ever read. rolleyes.gif I've read it about 9 times since, and strangely haven't gotten tired of it. I wanted to watch the anime after reading the manga, because I wanted to see everything attatched to Rayearth because it was so awesome. biggrin.gif

Unfortunately, I didn't actually get to see it 'till later, 'cuz I couldn't get ahold of it. sad.gif But now I've watched it twice! biggrin.gif Once entirely in English, and once entirely in Japanese. Japanese rocks. laugh.gif --Except I think I reeeeally liked Zagato/Lantis' voice in the English version better. Granted, his Japanese voice wasn't half bad, either--though his English one still stands at the top with me. Hehe. ^^
